Busy thats where not get off my case.

Not that the 5 or maybe 6 people that might read this have been chomping at the bit, biting their nails down to stubs wondering what has happend but I thought I would make up for lost time....

Against Me! "The Original Cowboy"

Stoked For This!!

From the Fat Wreckchords news desk...
It’s not even April Fool’s this time! Yep, you heard right, we are proud to announce that on July 7th, 2009 Fat Wreck Chords will be releasing The Original Cowboy by Against Me!. These predominantly never-before-heard demos were recorded at Goldentone Studio in Gainesville, FL with Rob McGregor on July 15th, 2003. The session was scheduled prior to Against Me!’s trip to Memphis’ Ardent Studios where As The Eternal Cowboy was recorded (the band’s first release with Fat). Tom Gabel explains the decision to go to Ardent: “Having already recorded our first full length album and two previous EPs with Rob at Goldentone, we wanted to do something different for our second full length. We specifically wanted to make an all analog recording with as few overdubs as possible which is what we could do at Ardent. With Rob McGregor coming along to produce, we wanted to make sure he was familiar with the songs, so we made this demo recording.”
At the insistence of Fat Mike, the song “Cavalier Eternal” from the 7/15/03 session did end up making it onto As The Eternal Cowboy, Mike preferring the demo to the version made at Ardent. Gabel describes the natural ease and success of those July sessions: “Recorded and mixed in only a couple of hours, The Original Cowboy was only meant to be a trial run, but, listening to it today, there’s a part of me that feels foolish for ever recording these songs a second time.”

In Music News...

One of my favorite bands for some time, The Lawrence Arms now are planning a 10th anniversary show. This excerpt is from his blog.

From Brendan's blog:

Oh, and we’re gonna do a pretty rad Lawrence Arms tenth anniversary show this year. I just started booking it yesterday, and there are details to come, but let’s say it involves fan voting, free shit, a whole kaboodle of awesome surprises, felching, space docking, snoodling, a battle royal to the death featuring all our ex tour managers/merch dudes (my money’s on beef or Nader to take the whole thing). It’s gonna be SICK. But that’s all for another time.
Oh, and it’s april fools day, but everything here is true. I don’t observe secular holidays.

Totally excited about this possibility! Also feeling a little old but I'm dealing with it.

Are you Hungry?

Chances are you won't be after this. On the other hand maybe you will be extremely hungry after this. This website has some crazy foods that are likely to do bad things to your body from something like Meatloaf cake with mashed potato and ketchup frosting to something like this...

Bacon cheese Pizza burger

Don't forget this delicacy The McNuggetini!

which contains this: A McDonald’s chocolate milkshake with vanilla vodka, rimmed with BBQ sauce and garnished with a chicken McNugget. I think I will try to order this next time I am at Manhattans. You better stock up Sarah!

Where the wild things are official trailer

The Spike Jonze adaptation of the classic children's book. Here is the official HD trailer and man I am excited for this one. I really think Jonze was a good choice for this movie. I hope it as good as the trailer makes it look

Woot! Woot! .com

Woot.com Is one of my new favorite time wasting sights. Here is the basic jist. Woot.com is an overstock site that puts up one item a day at midnight (central time) which it sells typically at a discounted price either until the following day or until their stock runs out, whichever comes first. A Woot Off is where once the first item sells out, they put up another one immediately, and keep going and going -- usually for days. It's addictive and fun and generally a great waste of time (and money, if you get suckered into buying something you probably don't need).

Windy City Sould Clash

At the end of May this is where I will most likely be! Really looking forward to this weekend. Lots of good band and good people. I haven't been to Chicago in three years and I really miss the city, cultures and even the bums!
poster version 1.2

Today is St. Patricks day. Probably going to spend my night on Adams St. Clayton is bar tending at O.T. and Adam is very persistant, especially when he is drunk.

Wednesday there is a great show at Frankies Inner City
Street Dogs(which I don't dislike but am not really into) Swingin Utter(A great band that I am excited to see for the first time) Shot Baker( A band on Underground Communique records who are great live) and the Hometown boys Homeward Bound

In theory these next two days have the capability of being very sloppy.
Hopefully I will end up taking some pictures but I might be to lazy or out of my mind.

Cheers Matty

Someone buy me this shirt

Its Tueday, March 10th, it is raining on and off and about 40 degrees. I think Im going to get out of the house in the next hour or so. Don't really have much of anything planned for the day. I really need to find some nail clippers though because my finger nails are getting out of control. I am also looking forward to having the weekend(or most of it) off of work. Well i have drawn a blank so I figure that's enough for now. By the way it is Chuck Norris' birthday.

A bunch of mistranslated products, signs etc. you get the picture

Just woke up, have to work again tonight. I am looking forward to a couple days of and hopefully nice weather. Hopefully I can do something productive with my time off. More often than not this winter I found myself sleeping most of the day, even on my days off. This winter has seemed to suck the motivation right out of me. I went to Lee Marvins on Friday when it was so nice out. If its nice tomorrow maybe I'll cook something on the grill. who knows.

Anyway... sleep well and dream

Video of the day March 5th 2009 / Hand Carved Animation by Mark Andrew Webber

From Juxtapoz online:

Mark Andrew Webber is a British artist who has been working on a piece based on the word "Dehisce" (definition: [biology] release of material by splitting open of an organ or tissue; the natural bursting open at maturity of a fruit or other reproductive body to release seeds or spores or the bursting open of a surgically closed wound) as part of a project for The Art of Lost Words.
This printed linomation (hand carved animation using linoleum prints), was done using 296 individual pieces of carved linoleum, all of which are a square 10cm each.
The video above shows the linoleum print version, melding all 296 pieces to make one cohesive filmstrip, while the bottom film features the carved version. Mark estimates the entire project took him around 500 hours to complete.

Band practice tonight then who knows.

Video of the Day-March 4th 2009/ Ben Nichols "The War"

I took this video at the Revival Tour in 2008. The show was at The Magic Stick in Detroit. It was a great show featuring Chuck Ragan(Hot Water Music) Tim Barry(Avail), Sundowner(Chris from Larry Arms) and more.

Ghosts in Mansfield

So I just found this picture that I forgot I took some time last year. I went down to mansfield Ohio with the Dirty Numbers. They were playing some coffee shop basement with Dave's friends Dangercat(Aaron & Gabe). It was pretty lame because a total of maybe 10 people actually showed up but we had fun partying all the same.

Anyway, to the point.. I took some pictures during the set and when i was reviewing them I noticed something strange. In one of the pictures there seems to be a face on Mikey(Masonic)'s left forearm and t-shirt area. I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is. There is nothing else in the picture that even somewhat resembles this object. Also, this was taken with a digital camera so there was no film to get tampered or smudged or anything of the sort. I still can't figure this one out. Any guesses?
The photo below has not been tampered with at all, except for the yellow box I placed in the photo so you can easily find the other image. The first is the original and second has the box..duh

Off With Their Heads!

If you haven't heard of this band well here they are

Its a punk band from Minneapolis with hard hitting riffs and great lyrics. Similar to the other twin city juggernaut Dillinger Four. I am going to Dayton May 9th to see them @ the Dayton Dirt Collective. Then possibly going up to Cleveland the next day where they will be playing at the Soggy Dog house.

Here is their video for the song "Fuck this I'm out"

I am a member of the vinyl collective message board that is run by Virgil, owner of suburban home records.
